I am due to have my follow up PET scan in January, and was wondering whether you get told anything on the day of the scan or whether it is a few days or weeks later?
Hi Umvert
The results of the scan are available to the consultant requesting it usually in three working days. They then get in touch with you.
Reading a PET is more skilled than reading an ordinary CT and the radiographers taking the scan can’t do it.

Hi mine was ready 4 days after but like Dani says they are read and discussed at mdt I got my face ti face 10 days after pet ct scan in 2018 now they seem to take a bit longer.
Try not to stress it’s extremely rare for treatment not to work my pet ct scan was 18 weeks after treatment they can show hot spots if done too early
