Hi all,

I'm two and a half years post treatment, chemo & radiotherapy, for squamos cell carcinoma in tonsil. Have recently been experiencing infrequent neck spasms, and was wondering if anyone else has/had this? Maybe it's the cold weather? Thinking

  • Hi and welcome. I was warned that fibrosis is a common late effect so I have religiously done neck exercises after I developed minor spasms. I should really have started earlier but I’m on top of it now and my neck is fine. They are simple and easy to do.

  • Hi Dani, thanks for your reply.

I remember doing all the neck & jaw stretching exercises during treatment, so I'll start doing them again.

  • Hi WHUMARK

I got neck spasms for a while. It felt like cramp. I would massage the area and it would suddenly release and then be O.K. It did go away after a few months although I sometimes still get a mild version of it. Massage still seems to help me.

  • I get a cramp like effects on the side of my neck where the dissections occurred.  It does not happen that often and although uncomfortable and not nice to look at it passes in  a few seconds.  I have had CRT recently but the cramps have been happening since my last dissection 4 years ago.
