Hi everyone,
So 17 days after RiG insertion, i get up to more pain and on checking RIG ,there is yellow weepage going on. Called Claire my dietitian and she came out straight away, possible infection so she took a swab to be tested.
No results till next week. Just when I wanted an easy few days before treatment starts ,this happens. I have Two dinners to go to over the weekend , courtesy of my daughter's bless them.
Will have to grin and bare it I suppose, but no grand kids jumping all over me.
Sorry just a rant I know there is worse to come in the scheme of things!!!
Did anyone else have rig problems ?
Cheers Mark
I can't help on the pain issue as mine was absolutely no problem . Maybe it is an infection, but I always had a small about of seepage from my PEG site. Tended to be light yellow and crusted over. Never did find out what it was but again it caused me no problem.
More importantly, I hope you have a great weekend despite the problems. Enjoy being spoilt rotten!
Hello jMark
Like Peter, my RIG didn’t cause me any pain. I too got slight weeping from it but it didn’t cause me any discomfort. I swabbed it gently with a cotton bud to stop any accumulation. At one point I got a small lump which developed under the plastic disc, which was uncomfortable. District Nurse advised me to use hydrocortisone cream and hey presto it disappeared. Rant away….although that’s a pretty mild rant by any standards….we’ve all done it! Enjoy your weekend

Hi Mark
PEG for me ....couple of infections ....antibiotics cleared up the first one....second one required a visit from the district nurse...anti fungal steroid cream....it was an ongoing task keeping the feeding tube insertion point clean and free from inflammation...always a worry, life saver but I was immensely relieved when it was removed
Peter
had a PEG, but like you it it was a bugger to keep the yucky crust off.. was swabbed for infection, etc.. I was cleaning it 3 times a day in the beginning, but it slowly cleared up towards the end..
