You can teach an old dog new tricks!!
At my routine follow-up I was talking to my Dr about the issue many of us have; that of losing taste part way through eating something. The example I used was eating sticky toffee pudding, having 2 mouthfuls then not tasting anything after those mouthfuls.
She was really good at explaining what is happening to our taste buds. It is something that happens to everybody, but after our treatment it is probably more pronounced. She explained that the taste buds basically go into overload after the sugar hit (in my case) and shut down so there is little or no taste until after the hit has passed - say 15 minutes or so. She used the example of "normal" people eating a sweet biscuit then drinking tea and not being able to taste the tea due to the biscuit overload.
Anyway I found it interesting and it helped me to understand one of the aspects of eating post treatment. Hope it helps others as well.
It used to annoy the devil out of me. I got so excited when it first happened.
I used to get first bite syndrome too. Still do occasionally.

I couldn't leave a biscuit for that long to get another 'hit' That was an interesting fact to know Peter and totally makes sense! Thank you.
