Hi all me again .

Still in the waiting room for results of last week's base of tongue biopsy operation, (due to see consultant 2nd October)but my silly question is can I still eat and drink what I want? Supposed to be going out for curry meal and a beer soon ,is this ok ?

Cheers sorry for the lame questions!

  • Don’t worry I ask my consultant the exact same question. I suddenly thought should I be careful, but like others have said it’s absolutely ok to eat what you want. X

  • Absolutely go for it !

My oncologist (and the MacMillan Nurses) told me right at the start to do exactly that. In their words "eat as much crap you want" as it was all about building up calories and strength at the beginning.

I'd sell my soul right now for a curry !!!

  • Cheers ,you don't know how happy that as made me feel

    • That's made me feel great ,I love a curry and an ice cold beer !
    • Bring on the donuts etc!!
  • Hi Spider

After biopsies and before starting chemoradio I splurged on Madras and Fish and chips for as long as I could....knew hard times were coming.....go for it.

  • Hi Peter

Like you I splurged out on fish and chips which was my last proper meal before my cancer journey started. It's funny how you remember the last meal you had before a life changing op. Wish I  could eat them now.

  • My Christmas dinner was my last real meal that I enjoyed as I bit my tongue beginning of January and eating was painful from then on in. Biopsy Feb , head neck dissection march and RT may. Eating definitely isn't as joyful anymore. I get water blisters every single day now and they come out at exactly lunchtime and eating lunch is unbearable. Please God I get the taste for food again and can enjoy it. 14 weeks post RT now and it's still very hard. Eating meals out isn't enjoyable for now but maybe this time next year it will be a happy time again .
