Hi everyone
i was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma in May 24, I have had aright side neck dissection and am currently in my last week of radiotherapy , my taste has completely gone and I find eating awful, will the tastebuds comeback?
will the tastebuds comeback?
Yes mine did. It was six months before I was happy with the ways things tasted. It wasn’t a linear improvement though. Some days things went backwards.

Hi yes usually we do mostly regain taste. I’m an odd ball I can’t tolerate any spice what so ever. But I’m 6 years post treatment and can live without chillies and curry.

My blog is www.radioactiveraz.wordpress.com HPV 16+ tonsil cancer Now 6 years post treatment. 35 radiotherapy 2 chemo T2N2NM.Happily getting on with living always happy to help
Finished treatment for tonsil and neck cancer in June (6 weeks radiotherapy and 2 sessions of chemo). My tastebuds were obliterated after the first chemo. Came back very slightly - albeit I couldn't really eat because of sore mouth, and then disappeared after the second chemo again. At same time my hearing also went really bad.
Was maybe 4 weeks or so after the second chemo they were back to around 80%. They're fully back now, and although my mouth and general eating has improved greatly I'm still not able to eat things like curry - even milder ones as they feel like lava on my tongue.
They will come back for you too I'm sure.
I am now 7 months post treatment. Taste returned after around 6 - 8 weeks. Muted, but I knew what I was eating. It is a bit better now. With our treatments recover is a marathon and not a sprint. You will get to enjoy food again - just not everything you may have enjoyed previously.
Hi Liz

Flying home from Pathos tomorrow!
My taste started to return with a bang a week or so before we headed out. Phew! that’s about 2 months post surgery. Although it is a little stop/start like others have said. Sweet has been the slowest to return and yesterday’s baclava was a bit like cardboard.
