Hi could anyone tell me if trying to get up mucus or phlegm is very hard after having head neck dissection and radiotherapy. I still feel as if I have something stuck at the back of my throat and don't know if this is just phlegm or mucus. It's so annoying and I'm worried it's something more serious. 12 weeks post radiotherapy. It comes and goes but is there a lot . Any advice welcome. Thank you.

  • Hi i have been suffering since my neck dissection and I’m now on my last week of RT and the only way to bring it up is to cough and once it gets stuck on the roof of my mouth or tongue I then have to use either a hankie or cloth but I  was hoping it will get easier post RT x

It’s normal. Keep well hydrated. Use a nebuliser or steam over hot water. Spit a lot. It does ease.
