Hi, my husband had a barium swallow done yesterday for difficulty swallowing and another medical issue and they’ve now referred him to ear/nose/throat because they randomly found “Asymmetric appearance of the contrast bolus as it traverses the hypopharynx, with mass effect on the left”. Does this mean there’s a mass there?
Anyone else have this?
What happens next?
Hi it means something has diverted the normal pattern of the barium passing down into the oesophagus. I hope the ENT appointment comes through soon. Waiting is awful but all you can do is keep busy and please avoid Google. Maybe ask your GP if he can translate? 90% of referrals aren’t cancer. Fingers crossed
