My tongue surgery showed aggressive squacous cells and Im advised to have lymph neck incission. What happens if NO cancer is found. Is that not an unnecessary surgery?
Thanks, you may be right that I should have the neck incision. I have an appointment soon to discuss
I've been there and got that T-shirt. Just have the dissection if it is recommended. I can assure you that if you don't then the what-if will play on your mind. Also IF your previous surgery has shown clear margins and this dissection is clear and avoids the need for radiotherapy then your life will be immeasurably better for it. And you keep the heavyweight treatment for later in just in case you need it.
Thanks for your reassurance. Im gradually coming over to accepting the idea of surgery.
