My husband saw his oncologist on 8th Feb and now waiting to start radiotherapy and chemo on 4th Match.  He has received a letter today outlining his diagnosis and treatment. Could someone tell me what TxN1 means please. And also states 65Gy for radiotherapy. Is this standard? Thanks so much again

  • When my hubby got he's letter like that i rang the Macmillian helpline and spoke to a nurse who was amazing and explained all

Hi. Tx means the primary can’t be assessed, so small they can’t sample it. Best ask your CNS

N1 means they’ve found cancer in one lymph node

    65Gy is standard.

  • Hi Dani,

Sorry to be a pest. Can you explain to me what the difference is between pathological staging and clinical staging ?

Does path use a biopsy/sample and clinical is more scans etc ?

    So many questions !

    Thanks Turi

  • Sorry to be a pest

    You’re never a pest.
clinical staging is based on the information the team get from scans and biopsies etc before treatment.
Pathological staging is that and all the extra information gathered from the samples after surgery

As you can imagine it’s more accurate.
