by Hi. New here.  I’m surprised my continued SE.   Hoping to find some info tongue pain and swelling, blocked infected salivary gland (2X).  And now tooth infection/ possible fracture. TIA

  • Hi Salthill

Tell us a bit more about yourself.
I must say ten weeks after my treatment ended I was still on morphine which took care of my tongue and throat pain.
You’re still under close monitoring so you should contact your CNS to get the hospital dentist to see you.
    Best wishes

  • THX BEESUIT,.

I had surgery 8/29/23 to remove tumor in salivary gland in my neck.  low grade cancer with one spot on margins that appeared more aggressive.  33 sessions of radiation completed on 11/29/23.  I had few side effects and was able to proceed with part-time remote work. Lost taste 3-4 weeks in.  This was difficult but much different from your experience.  I was unprepared for "long term" SE. ( months or years latter,) until recently.  I am in several FB support groups but am unable to find info about what is going on currently. I am  Followed by Ent, Dentist, and radiation MD locally.   My surgeon is 1 hour commute  (next appt in march). I have found info here about continued weight loss that I hadn't seen elsewhere.  I'm  wanting to knowing if the issues I'm having are common side effects of radiation or cause for concern  TIA

Hi. I would get that tooth seen to by hospital dentist. An infected tooth isn't treatment effect.

Tongue pain and swelling do take some time to settle

I can't say about infected salivary glands but I can tell you that some months after my treatment ended I had an infected parotid duct. My whole face swelled up on one side. Antibiotics and ibuprofen sorted it out
