Hi
If anyone has any advice it would be appreciated, i honestly have no idea what im doing or what to do and as much as i have a great family support they dont understand.
A few weeks ago i found out i was pregnant im actually 17weeks that was a massive shock, few days ago i was diagnosed with throat cancer and my options are great. Trying to make a decision with everyone in my ear and speaking to so many different consultants has got my head battered.
I now have less than a week to make a decision while trying to keep it all together and i feel like im about to break.
1. Risk it wont spread and get to 32 weeks delivery the baby
2. Terminate the pregnancy and start radiation then surgery
3. Risk miscarriage or complications to baby have surgery to remove my voice box.
Hi Unicornlove
That is an absolutely horrid dilemma facing you..
I guess the decision is to whether to continue with the pregnancy or not
Your body and mind are going to be really challenged by the treatment. For me...I would listen to my doctors not my family because they are the ones who know what you are going to face.
Why don't you phone the support line at the end of my post and talk to somebody from Macmillan.
Hugs

I have a 12 year old son. Me and my partner tried for year to have more it just never happened and now it has.
This might sound stupid but i sat the other day with 5 different consultants and felt like i was alone. Just had all these medical terms thrown at me and yet a simple question i asked wasnt answered.
I havent got a voice anymore so all my communication is text or emails or my white board.
I am yes which that i can get my head around witj not being able to speak now. We have all started to learn sign language, which also seems silly but my son enjoys speaking that way its like our own language especially when we are out and about.
Oh so sorry.
Contact your CNS urgently and tell them you want clarification. This is a life and death decision as you’ve pointed out. You HAVE to understand the options
My heart breaks for you.
This shouldn’t be happening. You are a person not a clinical condition.
Please give Macmillan a ring.

Oh dear what an horrid dilemma to face. You need some urgen t clarification.
I would ask for an urgent meeting but in the meantime contact the number that Dani has suggested.
was staging of your cancer mentioned ? Is it contained in the voice box .
could you have surgery then differ radiotherapy? Of course there’s a risk to the baby, if you have to make this decision. you would need to make that decision.
am sorry you’ve found yourself in this position. You need someone in the appointments whi can be your voice.

Hey
Thank you.
Yes i have an appointment tomorrow with a different consultant on the risks to the baby and what treatment would be best.
Yes my mother is travelling down to come with me.
Didnt anyone else find themselves having to be the support for everyone, just trying to keep it together?

I think more for us ladies there’s this urge to protect our nearest and dearest. I can tell you I felt terrible guilt at putting my husband through having to care for me and my daughter for sharing my mental anguish. But it doesn’t matter what’s gone before. You can’t change anything by remorse and if there was ever a time to put yourself first this is it.
After all. If it was your husband or partner with the cancer you wouldn’t think twice about caring for them.
You ARE worth it.

Hi yes my first thoughts were how’s my hubby and daughter going to cope it’s the mothering nuture instinct. This is about you putting yourself first. There’s hard decisions to make. When if you feel up to it let us know how tomorrow goes and I really hope the consultant can come up with a plan. Your head will be all over ask if you can record the conversation it may help you remember.
Will be thinking of you.
