Got fitting the rig on Friday...came home yesterday , doctor wouldn't check wound and just discharged me and said radiotherapy will check it and doctor has to remove stitches in 10 days ! I keep getting what I can only describe is a bubble that is painful it moves around one side of my  stomach then pops but I feel like it's popping through the wound .. has anyone else experienced this . It comes and goes but heck is it painful

  • Hi Draper, it will take a few days to settle down, I had a lot of cramping with mine for the first few days. Take some painkillers regularly, to keep on top of any pain. The RIG is a good thing to have if eating gets difficult, during your treatment, I know mine was a lifesaver, I was 100% reliant, on it for about 10 weeks. Any questions just ask, someone will always answer if they can. Good luck with your treatment.

  • Thankyou Ray x , I've taken some buscopan and oramorph and it seems to have settled . I'm seeing doctor tomorrow to check area isn't infected . I was told to leave dressing on for 10 days until stitches get removed . Is this standard

  • I didn't have a dressing on mine. When they have a look at it tomorrow, they might redress it or leave it without a dressing. Don't worry too much, they do tend to be sore, for a few days.

  • I did ask for doctor to look at it but they said no , that I'd have to leave it on for 10 days . I contacted trearge nurse this morning and I'm going to hospital tomorrow to get it looked at .

  • Hi Draper, mine took several days to settle - I did go to A&E with mine and got antibiotics but they hadn’t seen a RIG before. Take pain relief when you need it and keep your team aware of your symptoms. Good luck and welcome to the group.
