New side effect after treatment

Hi

I finished treatment 5 months ago but for the past 8 weeks every time I bend me neck to look down both my legs vibrate ( it's only my upper thighs). It's like a mobile phone buzzing in your pocket it's quite severe and getting on my nerves. It's every time too.

I just wondered if anyone has experienced this as the nurse said they have never heard of this before.

I'm seeing the consultant in 2 weeks but wanted to know if this is a thing others have had. I feel like a freak as everyone laughs at me. To be honest I'd problem do the same.

Thank you

Kathy

  • Yes me.
    it’s called Lhermitte’s sign.
It hung around for months gradually getting better

Its due to radiation on your cervical spinal cord.
I’m surprised your head and neck nurses have never heard if it.

  • Thanks Dani

I'm surprised too and I actually thought I was loosing my mind.

I'm gonna check this out right now.

    You are a star

  • Hi Kathy

I've had this too. I'm 2+ years post treatment and it's mostly gone now, just an occasional buzz. Hope it resolves for you soon!

  • Hi Shirley

Thank you. Wow 2 years! I hope it goes soon but it's so strong I doubt it.

I'm contacting the nurse today to let her know I have Lhermitts sign. How did she not know?

    Best wishes

    Kathy

  • Hi Katy I had something similar to that, my legs felt all fuzzy from time to time, this past though with time. Just tell your consultant when you see them.

    Ray.

  • Thanks Ray

I've just read all about it from Dani's link. This is exactly what I have.

I felt so weird i was going to join the circus!!

    Take care

  • Hi Dani

I have had to have further blood tests as I'm still severe neutropenic after my chemo back on 30th May, it's not got any better. The blood test showed I have an auto immune disease and so waiting for a referral to find out what it is. Maybe the nurse was more concerned with that then my buzzy legs.

Im so grateful for your help Dani

  • Hi Kathy.
Hope you get to the bottom of this and that it can be fixed. Let us know how it goes. I’d be interested. There is a lot of autoimmune disease around. Is there a link with  cancer or a link with the drugs used to co trol AI diseases? Or both?

  • I'll let you know what happens. I really hope it's nothing and I can just go back to normal.
