Hi everyone , my partner has had cancer of the mandibular and then 6 weeks of rt . He used to like a drink but finds that now as soon as he has a lager he starts to get lots of saliva and he said it actually feels quite slimey. Has anyone had this as I said it might be he just cant drink lager again ? I would appreciate any comments and if somebody has had this is there something he can do to help with this. Thanks in advance Slight smile

  • Hi Bridget. I had 6 weeks RT. I always enjoyed a proper ale. It was six months before it tasted anywhere near good. I can now drink wine and spirits at four years plus but avoid them.
Get him to try proper beer, not that gassy pretend stuff!

  • Hi Dani , that's great thank you Slight smile

  • Hi Bridget , I had 6 weeks RT finished January . I love a pint but of lager but my problem is the gas , I let it settle for while , saliva I have very little of so that’s not an issue like your better half. Was at a wedding funny enough last week and for the first time since RT I was able to “enjoyJoy” a diluted red wine. I also found lager on holidays in Portugal last month really bad with gas and also stronger in alcohol ( alcohol burns my mouth). Hopefully your better half  and myself will be able come Christmas to enjoy a normal tipple .

  • Hi Brian , thank you and he's son gets married in 3 weeks and finds that spirits are ok and he doesn't get as much saliva so maybe it's time he changed to spirits for a bit Slight smile
