Hello everyone,
I have recently been diagnosed with stage 1 HPV positive tonsil cancer following a tonsillectomy, that has spread to one lymph node.
I have been told i obviously need radiotherapy, but have also been given the option to have chemoradiotherapy and also to have bilateral treatment.
i obviously want the best outcome, but also have concerns around toxicity and long term issues from treatment. Does anyone have any experience of this?
Hi Blue Rover
Chemotherapy increases cure rate by 6.5%
I was stage 2 but had no nodal spread so escaped chemotherapy. I had RT to both sides of my neck but more to the affected side.
The worst side effects, short and long term are from the radiotherapy.
Have a look at my blog tomorrow. There will be a post about this very thing.
