Routine checks

A while ago Peter strongly advised people to attend their routine checks, as it was at one of those they finally traced his elusive tumour. I would strongly reiterate this as today, at my 6 monthly face to face, they told me my original site was looking clear and healthy but had questions about a polyp up my nose which was caught on the nasal scope. Result, straight to pre-op nurses and getting booked in for a biopsy under general anaesthetic in 2 to 3 weeks. I have to say that the urgency put the wind up me a tad, but overall I’m pleased they’re getting onto it so quickly.
Hey ho. I hope it’s not a case of ‘here we go again’, but if it is I can’t fault the system.

  • Last scope oncologist found a polyp in my nose that he said he hadn’t seen before but he said it was round and smooth and harmless.

  • Hi Dani.  I think he thinks this one looks quite abnormal, hence his caution. It’s good they're onto it so quickly but it’s going to make for an uncomfortable few weeks!  C’est la vie!

  • At least he's on it. Fingers crossed it's nothing sinister

  • I've just spent half an hour trying to see if one side of my nose is more blocked than the other.....it's not!

  • Oh no! Sorry! Mind you, I’ve been doing that all afternoon too. I must stop!

  • Hi Mark I’ve a benign cyst on my vocal cord it’s been there over 2 years now p, we’ve decided to leave it as to remove it could cause more damage to throat area. I’ve never missed an appointment  am sure all will be fine but as we all know it’s the waiting just remember you’ve done it before just keep busy and keep your mind occupied. Sending hugs Hazel xx

  • Good evening MarkEL, i must admit they are normally very quick off the mark if they find something and you have had cancer before plus if it is something sinister they have caught it early which gives them a better chance of treating it, let's hope the biopsy comes back negative. Good luck, take care.

  • I know how you feel.  But better sure than to worry long term.  Fingers crossed this is a false alarm like my last one.

  • My right nostril is so constrained that they can't get anything up it - always has been.  My ENT surgeon offered to open it up for me, but I've lived with it and really don't want any more complications.  Until he mentioned it I'd never really noticed apart from telling everyone scoping me to only use the left for fear of me murdering them if the tried the right! Smiley
