Hi. Is it ok to go for a mammogram after radiation? My ENT consultant told me right at the beginning that treatment would equate to a ‘life time’s worth of radiation so no x rays’. Anyone know?
Thanks
Checking on it, a mammogram has approximately the same radiation as 6 transatlantic return flights. I suspect that the safety benefits of a mammogram far outweigh 6 holidays to the USA!!
Incidentally a normal x-ray equates to one fifth of a return flight to the USA.
Go for it. It’s a lifetime of radiation to one place. I had a call for a mammogram jyst after us finished but put it off till the next round as I’d had a full body PET. That was clear.

Base of tongue cancer. T2N0M0 6 weeks Radiotherapy finished January 2019
Hi
My mammogram was due 4 weeks after I finished radiotherapy. My oncologist said it was fine to attend. When they did the mammograms they were gentle as I told them I'd had radiotherapy to my neck and it was very tender. Scans came back clear so that was a bonus
Go for it
