Hi,

I finished radiotherapy mid March and had the usual side effects - mouth sores, swallowing issues, loss of taste and fatigue. Out of the blue last week I started with double vision and have wear an eye patch as  I can’t move around otherwise. I’m booked in for an mri scan soon but wondered if anyone else has had the issue and what was the outcome ?

  • Hi. Possibly not related but, I started having vision problems a year or so after treatment finished. I put it down to treatment and old age but, then found that it might be a side affect of my thyroid being compromised. from the radiotherapy. Perhaps suggest to your med team that they just check your thyroid is working ok. (I never knew how much your thyroid does for you until it doesn't work 100%). Hoping that might be helpful.

  • I used to use ready readers and for a few months after RT I found they improved my distance vision which is really weird. No explanation. It gradually stopped and my vision returned to normal.

Yes. We should have out thyroid function checked annually after RT.
