Just had all my results today and treatment plan. My cancer has not spread anywhere else yet so I am to start 30 days of radiotherapy in January all around my neck I have to say I am really wondering how I will cope with this but I know I have to be strong for myself and my family. Any help to get me through this would be really appreciated.
Lillian
Awww it sounds to me like your are very strong already!
im probably a week behind you, as Iv had my tonsil biopsy today under general anaesthetic.
my consultant wants me to go to clinic next week to decide on treatment plan, apparently I have a choice. So I know how you’re feeling my heads all over the place.
But we can do this we have to
good luck keep us posted xx
Well guys I get my PEG fitting on Tuesday so fingers crossed that it goes ok. Any advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated, thanks Lillian x
Take your pain killers. PEGs can be uncomfortable for a week or so. Keep regular. Folk take something mild like Laxido or Movicol. Buscopan seems to have helped a few people too

Hello Lillian, good wishes for Tuesday- fitting the PEG should be fine, just remember to keep up with the pain relief afterwards as it will be sore for a few days. Eventually you will be glad of it being there as it takes away the stress of swallowing if your throat is too sore.
It’s a lot to get used to all at the start, but you will get through it all with the support from your medical team. Remember to ask ( or get someone to ask for you) anything you’re not sure about.
best,
Laura.
Hi Kate
I would say make sure you get strong enough pain relief afterwards. Mine was quite painful and I needed morphine injections to deal with it. The pain only lasted a couple of days thankfully. I was also given buscopan to reduce muscle spasms and also peppermint oil both of which helped quite alot. Not everyone has bad pain but I did find it a difficult couple of days.
I hope it goes well.
Thank you so much Laura, I have to say it is all starting to happen quickly now and I will admit to being a tad nervous x
That’s fine hun I don’t mind do they give you painkillers at the hospital cos I am only in for the procedure then straight home? Lillian x
I was planned to be in hospital for 1 night but it ended up being for 2 so that they could get on top of the pain.
it probably differs between hospitals as to whether you are a day case or in overnight but they should still get your pain relief sorted out before you go home. If they don't for any reason, be sure to ask as you shouldn't have to put up with pain.
I stayed overnight in hospital and was given painkillers while I was there. Then I was given a prescription when I was leaving . I think it was for paracetamol
