I saw my Oncologist today and now have to decide if i want to carry on with my Radiotherapy. I've had five sessions and have five more after christmas.
Half of me wants to, but the other half doesn't... decisions, decisions......
How are you after those 5?
I didn’t have much of any side effects after 10
What does your team suggest?

Hi Catmarel
After 4 weeks of radiotherapy I wanted to stop as I had dehydration and was finding it difficult. My oncologist recommended that I continue as he said that it would be 4 weeks of treatment with no gain. Consequently I finished the full 6 weeks of treatment even though it was difficult. I just hunkered down and counted down to the end of the treatment.
What is your oncologist’s recommendation? If he says it would be beneficial to continue I would go with that and grit my teeth. It will be over in no time and then you can start on the path to recovery.
However maybe you mean chemo not radiotherapy as that would tie in with the 5 sessions you mentioned.

Hello, I think there is a difference between radiotherapy and chemotherapy in terms of continuing treatment just from my own discussions with my consultant. I was told the radiotherapy is the main treatment and at times when I felt unwell all efforts were made so I didn’t miss any of those sessions. With chemo , I only completed 5 out of 6 and told that this would be sufficient as almost like a mop up to the radiotherapy. I would go to your medical team as I do think we are sometimes too shocked, traumatised and unwell to make such big decisions and whilst it’s important to be in control of our health, treatment plans, we need the guidance and views of our medical teams. I would just ask them what they would advise you to do. Good luck with it all Debbie
Hi Catmarel
I remember you posting earlier that you were getting only two weeks radiotherapy. I'm sorry, I forgot about your co-morbidities. You know, If I was in your position I would take everything they throw at me

It's radiotherapy chris2012
I have to say i tip my hat to all of you out there who have gone through weeks of Radiotherapy.
My team have left the decision down to me because at the end of the day it is not going to get rid of my cancer. My Oncologist said that he couldn't say how much of an effect the Radiotherapy would have..
This is why i'm just wondering if it's worth going through another week of it.
Hugs from me as well. The decision is yours to make if you don’t need to decide until after Christmas see how you feel then.
