It's 5 years today, 10th November 2017 when I finished my treatment, it's been a bumpy road along the way at times, with ups and downs and things that have worried me, but I am still here to tell the tale. For those who are about to start or having treatment or recovering, there is light at the end of the tunnel, the treatment and side effects can be brutal, but the results are pretty good, so hang on in there. Amazingly it's now more than nine years since my first diagnosis, and tomorrow it's two years since I was discharged post laryngectomy; where does the time go?
Metastatic SCC diagnosed 8th October 2013. Modified radical neck dissection November, thirty-five radiotherapy fractions with 2xCisplatin chemo Jan/Feb 2014. Recurrence on larynx diagnosed July 2020 so salvage laryngectomy in September 2020.
