Well saw consultant today and I have to have an operation on my neck to remove cancerous lump Apparently I have to see plastic surgeon so they can take a flap of skin for my neck. I will be in hospital for a week or 10 days . Anyone else had similar
Heck...that's not what you were hoping to hear...so sorry.
Where is the flap coming from? Did they tell you?
Flaps are common in plastics to cover surgical defects that are too big to close just by suturing the edges together.
I'm sure they will look after you pretty well...

Base of tongue cancer. T2N0M0 6 weeks Radiotherapy finished January 2019
Good evening Minmax, this is a very common procedure when they need to replace the skin/tissue that is canerous, my skin flap ( radial free forearm flap) was taken from my wrist where they remove a disc of skin plus a vein so it can be used for the surgery. Sometimes they take it from the thigh i suppose it depends on what is needed, it will leave a scar a bit like a balloon on a bit of string but heals up very well and does not cause any disabilities further down the line, mine was done in 2008. Im left handed so had mine done on my right wrist so i could still write etc. I found the operation and recovery went very well and was my first ever surgical procedure at the age of 48. Wishing you all the best, take care.

Thanks Everyone , Yes not really what I need along with heart failure and the missus leaving and some idiot running into the back of my van while stationary at lights on the south circular. At least I havnt a dog cause if I did it would have died with my luck lol. In the scheme of things the crash could have brought my lump to light early God only knows so could be happy days time will tell . Does anyone fancy an operation in a few weeks ?
Wishing you all the best with everything you are facing. None of this is easy is it. Kind wishes. Lizzie
