Hey everyone, I’m 6 months post chemo and radiation now and have injured my arm and the other one hurts too, doc says sprained prob. Just wondered if any of you guys experienced weakness of muscles? Not sure if it’s treatment related or where I fell arse over t*T on my power walk! Also got a puppy that pulls me all over the place so could be that. Waiting for physio assessment but could take ages I think the queue is long!! Thanks
Hi Delilah
Yes! I have muscle stiffness in my neck, both sides, pain in both shoulders and more recently pain in the muscles of my right arm. They all wake me up at night, as does my dry mouth. Its not alot of fun.
I started physio about 4 weeks ago, not much improvement so far but am keeping it all crossed for some respite from it all soon. I'll keep it all crossed for you too!
I had chemo x 2 and radiotherapy x 35 for tonsil cancer plus 1 lymph node, finished a year ago.
Shirley
Good evening Delilah, after my first operation i had muscle weakness so had to do exercises, not sure if radiotherapy can cause this but i would suggest its where you fell a over t on your walk also the pulling will not help matters, good luck with seeing the physio. Take care.

Hi Shirley thanks, not that I’m pleased to hear your aching too but nice to know someone in same boat! I’m just trying to pinpoint cause really as it could be so many things, chemo hurtled me into menopause too so I don’t think that helps! Honestly hit 50 in December and was diagnosed within a week then just been one thing after another! Snap I had one tonsil one node too I was lucky I had 5 x chemo and 30 radio was as sick as a dog all the way! Still at least we’re here and hopefully worse is behind us xx
Thanks Chris, you’re prob right I’m a clumsy cow haha!! Maybe it’s just something that goes with the territory then, no one said anything about weak muscles so been driving me nuts thinking what’s caused it, still I’ll try to stay upright that might help! Take care x
Hi
Sounds very similar to me, although I'm a few years older than you. I thought the menopause was behind me but it seemed to return with the radiotherapy
Sometimes I ache so much, it gets me down. Sorry you're having a rubbish time
Take care

It really is very unpleasant. Are you having physio? I am but not finding it helpful at the moment. I walk alot and it helps a bit. X
This is something I have noticed. Before starting chemo and radio I was pretty fit and strong. Following treatment (finished on 30th September) I have noticed that quite a bit of strength has gone AWOL from my upper body, arms and my core. I put this down to the weight I loss and beating my body took during the treatment. I am getting stronger as I put the weight back on and have also increased the exercise regime of walks, bike work and various out door activities. I have a new instrument of torture I will be setting this weekend which should help… they call it a “cross trainer”.. hmm wonder how cross I will get trying to put it together.. :-)
It's the worst feeling ever its like someone is strangling me ... saw physio for a couple of weeks she gave me a peice of paper with some exercises on them but didn't do anything xxx
