My ex partner was diagnosed with cancer of the voice box two years ago, he had extensive chemo (6 sessions and 30 radiotherapy sessions. He was quite ill afterwards and continued to have cameras and reg checks however he went last Fri and the consultant could not perform the procedure of the camera so she got a senior, the senior said he couldnt either as he had a lot of build up of frotthy phlegm he found some lumps by palpating his neck and said he would possibly need a biopsy. he was then rund to say he needed a check with his gp. te gp did bloods and said he has low vitamin d and also low red blood cells. He has also been for  CT scan and an Mri of his head, neck and pelvis . He never asks questions and said he doesnt know what he has had to have all these tests for again. Do they suspect change can anyone help?

  • Hi Amanda.
I think they suspect something might be up so they are doing all these checks. They aren’t routine I’m afraid. I hope they find nothing sinister. Radiotherapy has far reaching side effects. Many crop up years later so fingers crossed it’s something like that.

  • Good evening Amanda, in most cases, they will do tests, scans, biopsies etc if there is a change in the patient's condition, hopefully, its nothing to worry about but its always better to be safe than sorry. Fingers crossed its just late side effects or something not related to his treatment. Wishing you both all the best, take care.
