hi my partner is getting a rig tube fitted today , i suddenly realised last night nobody has told us if he has to fast before this so not sure if he can have anything when he gets up today , has anyone else had to fast for this ? would think he would have to since its his stomach there working on but surely someone would of said if it was important

thanks for the replies , i had read that info online so we went with the fasting and just aswell as he was supposed too , he did take his diabetes medicine before goin tho and they werent happy with him but the tube fitting went ahead anyway , he said hes in pain at the moment but not too much so hopefully only a couple of days and should be fine , he still hasn't had any food so not happy with that as its now been 22 hrs since he last ate but getting his dinner at 5 so he will be looking forward to that
Hi debzy. Tomorrow is Friday and we all seem to run out of stuff at the weekend. Make sure he has some decent analgesia and if on opiates ( that includes cocodamol) some laxido or movicol. Stomach tubes usually settle in a couple of weeks but can be the devil till then. Quite a few folk have got relief by adding Buscopan ( which you can get over the counter) but do check with his team. Have a peaceful weekend.

Yes you should and there a special you should have the night before.
Yes you should. There is also a contrast drink you need the night before the procedure.
