I have an appointment on Friday as my biopsy results are back. Its a different hospital and different consultant. Its in the Maxillofacial unit. I'm scared stiff but will update you all afterwards x
Hi Jen. You’ll get through it once you know what’s happening and a plan is in place you’re heads in a better place.

Hi Hazel. A nurse has just phoned me to say they didn't take enough tissue to get a diagnosis so they want to do further surgery. I consented to a tonsillectomy but the only biopsied them instead. I'm in pain with my mouth and throat, living on painkillers and struggling to eat. I'm a bit cross and feel like I've been through a general anaesthetic for no reason. I will wait and see what Friday brings.

Oh dear that’s a pity having to do it all again. Recovery from tonsillectomy is around 10-12 days please tell them about your wedding dates. As for eating now you can try complan available from most supermarkets it will give you extra calories if you’re still able to swallow you can ask your g p if they will, prescribe the ensure or fortisip drinks to give you calories. Ice cream custard jellies inside if custard tarts poached eggs etc.

Hell! There are reasons for not doing a tonsillectomy but you’d think they would take enough tissue. On the other hand something might have happened to the sample between theatre and lab. Won’t make it any better I know so big hugs.
All you can do is grin and bear it. More hugs.
Hope you get a date soon and some answers on Friday.

I actually got Complans on prescription, found them much easier to drink than ensure/fortisips.
Metastatic SCC diagnosed 8th October 2013. Modified radical neck dissection November, thirty-five radiotherapy fractions with 2xCisplatin chemo Jan/Feb 2014. Recurrence on larynx diagnosed July 2020 so salvage laryngectomy in September 2020.
Sorry you have to have it done again Jen89, i had the same happen to me after having the biopsy i was halfway home and my mobile rung to say they needed more tissue to test, that was a stressful day, this is where i first had strong painkillers as the pain was not good yet when i had operations i never suffered any severe pain, weird how it all works out but you will get there in the end, good luck with the results.
