Hi

Am at the end of week 15 post treatment. In the evenings & when I go to bed I’m experiencing bad heartburn. It stops me getting to sleep, is very uncomfortable & becoming a daily occurrence. Any advice please? Anyone on meds for this?

Thanks everyone x

  • I suffered heartburn too after my treatment but found that half a Lansoprazole tab each morning kept it at bay. I came off them after a year and suffered cold turkey heartburn for a few weeks which I controlled with a swig of Morrisons own Gaviscon type stuff - less than half the price and just as effective. Now I take nothing other than the occasional Rennie if I go to bed on a fullish stomach.

  • Yeah I’m 14 weeks out of treatment now and I’m chugging Gaviscon for fun . Good to know it’s common place .

  • Hi Both, speak with your clinicians as they can supply all sorts of different types of medication for heartburn, a lot of them are on prescription only, I ahve to take some for possible reflux every day. You should also tell them as it can be indications of other issues.
    take care

  • Ask your GP for some proton pump inhibitors like omeprazole or lansoprazole. They work really well. One pill in the morning. Then you need gaviscon just the odd day.

  • Hi. How are you doing with your recovery? Is eating going ok?

  • Brilliant thanks , almost back to normal now .I’m back to work on phased return in a fortnight . Still get tired after doing anything strenuous but now it’s a sit down and have a breather rather than have a nap. Dry mouth and acid reflux are my only two slight issues .
