  • Hi Chris.

Are you washing your mouth out regularly to stop the empty sockets getting infected?

Did you get some corsodyl or some such?

  • Hi Chris

Initially after the operation I was was told to gargle and rinse with Difflam, then with salt water, may be try that, see if that helps

  • Hi Both

Did salt water gargle for about three days then went back to ordinary mouthwash twice a day going to up that now and see how it goes

  • Good evening Chris, if you are still brushing your teeth as normal i would say it could well be an infection as i remember my wife saying similar to me but mine was due to a skin graft that had become infected. Unfortunately or fortunately for me, i could not smell it because of my laryngectomy. Mouthwash is ok for a short period of time as it can turn the teeth black as my dentist told me when i went for a check-up which was news to me. Corsodyl is the one to go for, failing that a saltwater gargle is just as good. All the best.

                                                                                                  Chris.

Its sometimes not easy but its worth it !

  • After I had a tooth removed at the hospital it turned out to have a residual infection in the socket.  I tried the salt water etc, but it did not clear up.  You should have a number to call at the hospital.  Mine got me back in within a couple of hours of calling them, cleaned out the socket and a dose of antibiotics finished the job off.
