Afternoon everyone,

Hope your all doing ok on this journey ee are on.

Well, i had the 6 teeth removed, lots of injections to numb it, it took about half an hour to remove them all!!

The dentist at the hospital was lovely, even tho she looked younger than my 28 year old daughter Rofl

Took painkas soon as i got home then took some codine at 9pm, the pain was hell, and i couldn't sleep so at 1am i took some paracetamol and got the pain under control and slept from 2.30.till 8am. Have managed to eat a little, scrambled eggs and some soup today, I'm starving but don't really know what to jave now.

As you know i am having the PEG fitted Tuesday so that willbe another thing ticked of the list of to do's before treatment.

Take care guysx.

  • Hi well done. Poached eggs on well buttered toast ok it’s eggs again but they are a easy source of protein.  You could try complan which is fortified plus food supplement. Most supermarkets sell it. Hopefully tomorrow yiu can eat a bit better.
Codeine can give you constipation just be aware. Especially when treatment starts make  sure you have prescribed laxiodo or movicol. Good luck with peg again take pain killers to keep on too if pain.
It’s all part of the protocol we go through before the  main event so to speak.

  • Hi Zackaroo

Ouch that sounds very painful. At least that is one thing out of the way.

Some suggestions around food. Try Weet bix well soaked in milK and add on some pureed or mashed fruit and custard and warm up in the microwave. From experience I know that helps fill you up. A slice of sponge cake with pureed  or mashed fruit and custard might work as the puree soaks into the sponge cake and makes it very soft.

Tuna mornay is nice and easy to get down and if the bits are too much give it a blitz in the food processor.

Smoothies with lots of different soft fruit and milk can help fill you up too.

You can buy Sustagen or similar supplements at the chemist and they help fill you up and have the added benefit of vitamins, minerals etc.

Best wishes on your forthcoming treatment.

  • Thank.you so.much for your advise,  I shall deffo try the sponge cake and custard Yum tonight i have had some cod from the chip shop and taken the batter off it as i couldn't be bothered to cook. I'm going to have some jelly and ice cream now.

    Take care x

  • Just watch for infection at the tooth site(s).  When I had one out, about a week later it was not really healing and no amount of salt water etc would clear it up.  Quick trip back into hospital to have it cleaned out and some antibiotics and no further problems.
