Hi all, had a really rough week, kids are off school and Iv been so sore with my neck tumours and there just constantly leaking Iv had a reaction to all the dressings so now I just used a non stick pad with a bandage, my cough seems to have got worse, Iv been worrying a lot what if this it’s my last Christmas with my little girls, I start chemo and Cetuximab on the 11th and people seem quite confident about it and that it’s definitely not going to be my last Christmas just wish I felt confident
Hi Sophiemarie88. Sorry that you're having a rough time of it, especially at this time of the year. Trust in your clinical team as they will have experienced this many times before and will have good knowledge of what is curable and what is not. The vast majority of us have had treatment and a celebrating many Christmases down the line which we thought we would never get to see.
There are no guarantees in life, but one thing that cancer gives us is the insight to seize the moment and enjoy it for what it is. I hope you can do that over Christmas and plan for Christmas 2022 when you will have put this horrible episode behind you.
All the best
Good evening Sophie, its quite understandable to be feeling a bit low as you are having to deal with a lot of emotions. Have you asked them to change the type of dressing you are using as sometimes it can be just the adhesive that causes the reactions, i have found that after a period of time my skin will react to the adhesive so i change to another one for a week to give the skin a break. Try not to think of what lies ahead and enjoy your Christmas with your children as January 11th will soon be here and your treatment will begin. Personally, i agree with the other people with the results of your treatment and this time next year you should be in a happier situation. All of my operations, treatments and recovery were around this time of year and missed 3 Christmas dinners on the trot but that was 12 Christmases ago. Wishing you all the best, take care.

Hi Sophiemarie. Try to put cancer away in a little box snd don’t open the lid until January. Enjoy your little girls and take notice of your team they are the experts.
Once treatment starts you get into another zone you’ve got this.
hugs Hazel xx
