In the last few days I’ve had dried mucus in my nose that makes it hard or impossible to breathe, especially when lying down. I’ve managed the last few radiotherapy sessions by carefully extracting the mucus a short time before the treatment but it’s not sustainable and the technique is starting not to work as I’ve obviously done it too often.
it just builds up again quickly and I’m going to damage my nose lining if I don’t find a better solution.
I have ordered a humidifier (arriving today) but does anyone else have any advice? Feeling very anxious as I can’t miss any sessions (I’m about to start week 5 of 6).
Thanks, everyone, in advance.
Hi and welcome. Try one of those decongestant nose sprays you get for a cold. I still use one now and then so that I don't end up sleeping with my mouth open. Best of luck

Hi a humidifier and a nebuliser helped me. But only use plain boiled water or saline solutions in nebuliser ( I used humidifier all night in bedroom and nebuliser uo ton6 times a day for 5 minutes a time )and plain boiled water in humidifier no essential oils. You can trybsteaming I bet a bowl of water with a towel .Plus the nasal decongestant sprays.

Hi,
I’m now in week 7 post treatment and still using a nasal douche, which my support team recommended. It’s a Neilmed douche bottle and their brand of saline pouches, which you can buy on Amazon for less than £20. It works really well so highly recommended. Hope this helps and good luck.

Hi Barry, thanks for your reply - that sounds ideal for me. I had a look on Amazon (https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=neilmed+douche&crid=ICIEW7KCZYSE&sprefix=neilmed+douche%2Caps%2C166&ref=nb_sb_noss)
but I’m not sure which particular one to go for. If you had the opportunity to paste a link to the specific product that would be so appreciated. Thanks again!
This is the one I’m using.
Do you do that just before RT or through the day as well?
Sounds brilliant if it works.
