Hi everyone, I'm due to have a biopsy on my anterior tonsillar pillar soon. I'm having a general anesthetic. I didn't really know where to ask this, I'm obviously hoping it's not cancer. Just wondered if anyone had a biopsy in this particular place. Don't want to bother the pre op nurses. Just a few questions like will I have to eat before I can go home. Is ibuprofen or paracetamol better? Just thinking if I'm not eating much paracetamol would be best. Happy to answer any questions about my symptoms if anyone is curious.
Hi I had a biopsy on my anterior wall of tonsil plus tonsil plus soft palate area under a general 3 years ago. Mine was h p v to start cancer with several affected lymph nodes. Inked I had cancer from fine needle bIopsy . I was given paracetamol befit op snd sent his with codeine. I ate a normal dinner when I got home that evening.

Hi hazel. Thanks for replying. I did scroll the posts and saw you had the tonsil, didn't realise they did the arch too. They have said on the letter to bring our own pain relief. I will see how I get on with the paracetamol, I very rarely take it but when I do it seems to work really well.
So what they are biopsying looks kinda like a cyst , I can put a photo. Some time in the spring or summer I noticed it, guess I ignored it for a bit. I had the dentist in March for a check up so I guess he would of noticed it if it was there. Not sure how close he looks really though. Anyway, I do have some lymph nodes up but had a bug about a month ago so no reason to worry about those. I have ways had cysts/little nodes in my neck as long as I can remember anyway, but not squidgy like the infection ones. So I went to the gp with that in july and he referred me to ENT, the appointment was months but they tried to book the biopsy for 2 weeks but I had a funeral so was 3. White thing hasn't grown any noticable amount since I noticed it. I was actually hoping for answers for my ear because I have constant tinnitus in the one I had an infection with from December. Saw ENT in March and she just looked in my ear, I didn't even move my mask even though I told her I had trouble nose breathing. I was meant to go back after 3 months but nobody told me. Sometimes my throat/ swallowing feels a little odd. My face feels a bit funny. Like tense. I think that a lot of my issues might be do to the tinnitus though, I was getting lip twitching and stuff and actually think I was bringing it on myself by not relaxing my face, it's unconscious I don't realise I'm doing it, sometimes I real
ise my jaw is clenching too. Muscle fatigue the Dr said it might be. My ear feels like there is something in it, hearing is lower but over normal hearing levels. My bone is thickened on my collar bone but have read sometimes your dominant side can sometimes do that. I imagine a lot of is is unrelated. Boob hurts, itchy nipple, barely noticeable fatty lumps lower legs same place both sides. The list goes on im sure we all have along list of minor annoyances . I think a lot of it is completely normal and I already see the Dr enough with my psoriasis, think he would have me down as a hypochondriac if I went with these sorts of things, although to be fair he always give me a thorough examination and referral if needed. I wasn't actually concerned about the 'cyst' at all but starting to get worried now I think.
Oh good to hear about the normal eating, I imagine if you can do it after all that I will be able to aswell. Hoping the mouth thing doesn't give me a million ulcers too!
Hi 43215 and welcome to the community.
I have had cancer at the base of my tongue which hopefully is gone. I have a white nodule in the same area as yours. It's a mucous cyst. I hope yours is too. Oh and I have tinnitus which is just tinnitus. I hope you are OK. Do let us know Best wishes

Hi Dani. That's great news. Did they diagnose your cyst just on sight. I must admit I wasn't worried at all until they decided they wanted to biopsy. Argh tinnitus. I don't know if I would just prefer it in both ears so at least its balanced out. My lip is thicker and I have uneven neck fat that side too I am just putting both of them down to the clenching I do unconsciously. Some times it doesn't bother me and other days it goes right through me. It's a static type sound. One time we went camping by a quarry and there was a constant drone noise. The combo of the two noises nearly tipped me over the edge ha. Did not compliment the static at all.
Hi by the time of my biopsy I had already had a mri and a ct scan with contrast which had red flagged where my cancer was hence the 3 biopsies.I wouldn’t read too much into it just have your biopsy fingers x it’s just a cyst.

Yes they did. But they know me quite well and know the anatomy there, that and the fact that it was smooth and round had remained unchanged for a while and the area round it was normal. I guess your lot are being super careful. Hold onto the fact that must if these are not cancer.
When is your biopsy?

Thank you, it's reassuring. 23rd. I think I'm more nervous about the op because I have never had a ga before. Mine is flat but quite small just white with some pink around it. Part of the pink stops in a dead straight line which I find quite funny. Bodies are funny things. She just said there is only one way to find out for sure! I was hoping for help with the ear but got this instead ha. What a treat. Oh and the camera was a bit eye watery. she said hold your head straight and I said like this and she said no, we all had quite a laugh, the nurse asked if I wanted her to hold my head and I said yes please! Couldn't work out what way was up. Then she was by the voice box and seeing that while I was laughing made us all laugh more. The nurse said it might be a nose tube for the breathing so I'm hoping my nose is having a good day.
Thanks. I have been calling it a cyst since I had it so let's hope so. I would of much preferred a scan instead, but I suppose it's cheaper to just whip it out than have scans then have to do the op anyway if they still can't tell. I have a hard time trying to trust the professionals but I'm trying! I did actually like this Dr and nurse I saw and felt like she knew her stuff, so it's a start.
