Thank you for all the support you wonderful people gave in the past week when I was so lost and desperately trying to get my husband home. Yesterday they said yes but no oxygen despite on the notes it saying he would be sent home with it. I'm so happy he can be in our own bed resting but if I'm honest I'm also terrified no support put in place just me and he's very stubborn so I'm having to play a role I'm not used to insisting he takes his meds and eats. He is not the man he was before he went into hospital.
Hi again. This stage is the worst too. Radiotherapy peaks at around three / four weeks. What the oncologists do to us is appalling. In 30 years time our treatments will be viewed that way just as 30 year old treatments are now. Cancer changes us mentally for far longer than physically. Your husband will be different. He’s had a real battering and has had no control over it. Please don’t forget you should have his CNS to contact for extra support and maybe your GP practice nurse can step in
I'm so glad he’s home.
Hugs

Hi Hippycat
So pleased your husband is back home.
I agree with Dani. Don't hesitate to contact the clinical nurse at the hospital or your GP with any concerns. And yes, he's had a battering and a battle by the sounds of it.
Fingers crossed that he will start to recuperate now he's home.
Take care.

Good evening Hippycat, you are welcome as we all know how difficult things can get so we are only to pleased to offer our help, its great to hear your husband is home now perhaps he will relax and feel more comfortable in his own surroundings, i know i was. As the others have said, help is just a phone call away and if you are struggling then i believe they can arrange for a nurse to pop in from time to time making sure everything is going to plan. Hopefully, he will realise that the meds will make life that much easier along with the food helping with the recovery. Im sure your husband will return back to some normality in the near future, best wishes, take care.
