Hi my husband was diagnosed with salivary gland cancer yesterday, lump on his neck, having an operation in a few weeks,
so scared, i cant even think straight, has anyone else already been through this please?
Hi starfish. Sorry to hear about your husband. There are quite a few community members tackling this cancer. If you put salivary gland cancer in the search bar at the top of the page you’ll get quite a few results.

Good evening Starfish 1, i have had saliva glads removed during my first cancer operation, it all sounds frightening but he will be in good hands as these surgeons are well experienced in this. He will have a dry mouth to begin with but you should find the other saliva glads with work harder to compensate. On the whole recovery is quite quick and should not have any problems once everthing has settled down but the amout of saliva will decrease depending on how many are removed. Wishing you both all the best, take care.

You are welcome starfish1, its never easy hearing the words "cancer" mentioned but the treatments and recovery have improved so much over the years, just take things a day at a time as you and your husband will have a busy period ahead of you with appointments scans and the operation itself. Good luck ,take care.
