Swallowing tablets

I have to swallow quite a few tablets daily. Some have really terrible taste. I have always wondered if there is like a very small plastic bag to put them into as you swallow them that you shouldnt feel the taste. Of course it wouldnt be plastic but something edible. Maybe this already exists but I havent yet heard of it. If it does I would very much like to know about it.

  • A generous knob of butter? Might that work? You can also buy empty gelatine capsules

  • I dont think butter would work. But if you can put the tablets inside empty gelatine capsules that sounds like it would, will have to try it out.

    What are capsule sizes?
"000" holds about 1000 mg., "00" holds about 735 mg., "0" size holds about 500 mg., #1 holds about 400 mg., #3 about 200 mg. One teaspoon will fill about 7 "0" capsules and about 5 "00" capsules. The weight depends on the density of the powder you are using.
I have just bought the smallest size. I anyway have to break my tablets I cant swallow a whole one. A pity they dont sell sample sizes to try out, so I have had to buy 100. I have bought the vegetarian ones not the gelatine ones made from wood pulp.

    Thanks

  • Let us know how that goes. The capsules are much easier to swallow as they are slippery.

  • Hi Seeker1 I had terrible problems swallowing and ended up being admitted. I suppose coating them in something like jam if they taste that bad or using a liquid you like All the Best Regards Marc

  • I crush any of mine that comes in tablet form then add any liquid you like. All the best.

  • I have now been using these capsules daily and told all my hospital doctors about them. Surprisingly none had ever thought about it. They ought to read this blog. One doesnt even have to close the capsule which can be difficult. One only has to split the round ones and they easily go in. Best to use the smallest size.

  • That’s great. So pleased it works for you
