Please can people advise the best way of shaving or trimming the beard around the stoma hole? I'm worried about getting hair in the hole if I use an electric razor and water/foam if I wet shave

Thankyou for the welcome, it's actually my Dad asking question but he is still in hospital and asked me to ask! I am hoping he will join Communith when he is out and feeling up to it.
Good evening VIZCM, i always used to use a wet shave before becoming a laryngectomee i then changed to an electric razor and still use the same one today, i just think they are a lot safer and collect most of the hair. I have never removed my base plate when shaving so shaved with the base plate and filter in situation. Yes, i agree you don't want the hairs going down the hole if possible is would cause a bit of irritation. I hope this has helped you make a choice, wishing you all the best, take care.
Chris
Hi, I use both wet and dry, if I wet shave I put my shower funnel in instead of normal filter, he will find that once he starts wearing baseplates the hair will most likely stop growing around the stoma, I would think also he will need a clean skin area for the baseplates to adhere to the skin so as to allow speech, it sounds early days at the moment but the speech therapists will see him through trust in them. Best of Luck.
I had mine in August and am back at work so tell him there is life after !
