Hello... my Dad has recently been diagnosed with a T3 tumour on his hypopharanx and spread to the lymphnodes. Has anyone else on here had experience with this type of tumour?
We are still awaiting the outcome of MDT meeting as Xmas has now got in the way. My Dads detoration in three weeks since the lump was found has been quite significant. His voice is barely audible, his ability to swallow his worsening by the day, he sleeps a lot and the mucus is uncomfortable.
Obviously we are all very worried and now the Xmas break will delay any decisions on treatment options (if any).. as the consultant is away until next week. The wait is torturous and at a bit of loss of what to suggest to do next.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, Queeny123, you are right the waiting is torturous, hopefully you will get the outcome of the meeting soon. Try not to go on google and try not to over think things, I know I did, so I know it is easier said than done, but it doesn't help. Many times these things turn out alot better than we thought. Someone should be along soon to give you some info on your Dad's tumour. All the best to your Dad, yourself and family.
Regards Ray.
Hi Queeny
I have a friend who used to post in the forum. She had radiotherapy and chemotherapy for her hypo pharyngeal cancer earlier this year and has made a good recovery so hang on in there.
The waiting is bad I know but if your father has deteriorated significantly I would give his cancer nurse a ring to see what else can be done re somebody else seeing him in the meantime
Best of luck

Hi Queeny. I also know the same person Dani mentioned yes she did have lymph node spread. The waiting is the worst part the m d t teams will be meeting so you should hear soon. My cancer was tonsil cancer I had spread to several nodes and I am now 28 month post treatment. Maybe try your g p tomorrow difflam is good for sore throats yiu can buy over the counter it might help him swallow. If he is struggling to swallow try upping his calories full fat milk cream, try complan from supermarkets nor see if g p would prescribe ensure high calorie food supplements. Hope this helps let us know how he gets on.
