Had mdt meeting yesterday and once the procedure was discussed I'm happy with it.

I'm a strange creature and need to know exactly what is happening then I'm ok with it. Daft I know .

My oh tried to rationalise things with me which because I'm a very strong headed person didn't go as planned.  He looks out for me but not got an easy job.

So rig fitting it is

  • Hi Abrn

Nothing strange about wanting to know what's happening. I'm exactly the same. I'm medically qualified, though not a doctor, and I understand the lingo. I needed to know exactly what was happening, what my cancer was etc etc.

I researched how a linear accelerator works, how IMRT has revolutionised cancer treatment (though routine proton therapy for our cancers is just round the corner) and the mechanics of treatment. It's one reason I wanted eye holes cut in my mask.

I took great interest in watching the shape of the X-ray beam changing as the machine passed round me.

By the time I was in my last week and in a lot of discomfort I couldn't look at the blasted thing so kept my eyes closed !!! Slight smile

The only thing I didn't explore was survival statistics. This was my oncologists advice at the start but a decision I had already made.

    Knowledge is power.

Others here have made a point of not wanting any details

    We are all different

    Good luck and press on.
