My mum has oesophagus cancer, life has changed so drastically, so quickly for her. She can’t eat or drink, she has a tummy RIG for tube feeding. With her 70th birthday coming up I was desperately trying to think of ways to celebrate (it’s amazing how much of life revolves around food and drink). Mum is mid way through chemotherapy and starts radiotherapy next week, she has had ups and down but generally has blown us away with how she has coped. The main thing has been tiredness and feeling unable to concentrate on much at all, other than reading. So I made her this ‘book cake’ for her birthday, we sang, she blew out candles and now she has a stack of new books to read. I just thought I’d share for any other book worms out there, if unable to eat - I think she loved it and it was amazing to see her happy. Wishing everyone well on their journeys!
