Hi, my wife has oesophageal cancer, she is waiting for treatment to start at the end of May, she can only eat liquid foods, but now is getting a little pain in the right hand side of her rib cage? Has anyone else had any issues with this, is it normal?
Hi,
Apart from, presumably, the endoscopy which was used to confirm your wife’s OC, what other tests has she had? CT scan? PET scan? Laparoscopy? These are used to check for any spread of the cancer which, of course, is your main worry when other symptoms present themselves. CB
Hi, she has had all the scans and test to show there is no other signs of cancer, they checked her lungs etc as well. But she just gets this pain in her right side of her chest when she eats, well I say eats, very liquid soup is all she can swallow. Her radiotherapy starts may 28th 5 days a week for 5 weeks
Hi I used to get a pain in the right side of my chest which would be followed by vomiting ! After I had vomited the pain would go away! This was when I could eat small amounts and then it got that I could eat less and less until I could only sip water ! I wad then admitted to hospital and was fed through a picc line ! Hope this helps Tricia x
Hi trica, my wife is already being fed by a pic line, the nurse comes every night to connect it, she can still eat very watery soup, and we get some high protein drinks on our health care. We contacted Bordeaux hospital yesterday, and we have got an appointment on Tuesday, so we will see what they say. But thank you very much for taking the time to give us your input. Tony
You’re very welcome I do hope you get a treatment plan soon ! Tricia
Hi, thanks for the response, we went to Bordeaux on Tuesday and had a new tube fitted for her food intake, but she was in so much pain we went to our local hospital Tuesday night, then it calmed down a bit, but this morning she is in tears, now waiting for nurse to arrive.
