Hi, I'm new here and have joined as my dad has been diagnosed with esophageal cancer. He and my mum are keeping everything to themselves and saying everything is fine (which is their right but isn't helpful to me or my sister). So far my dad has had a camera down his throat (where they took samples), a PET scan and on Wednesday he had an endoscopy.
My question is, at this point will he know what grade it is and will he have been given grades for the TNM staging system?
Many thanks
If I remember correctly in my husband’s case it was the only option as four endoscopies were unsuccessful in reaching the centre of the tumour and we were told biopsies were being taken from the wrong place ! Long story which resulting in me having him transferred to another hospital where he was fitted with a JEJ feeding line into his duodenum during the laparoscopy as he couldn’t eat or drink at this stage ..and after five long months we finally received his definitive diagnosis.
This is over two years ago and thankfully alls looking good up to now .
J x
