Dad got his pet scan last Friday and got a call to say he has an appointment on Tuesday to discuss results.
Dad hasn't been great the last few days extremely tired, not sleeping and having nightmares.
He had only put on half a pound in two weeks ,they have upped his feed thru the jej tube to 14 hours.
Not allowed any food or drinks and the spitting is every two mins.
He was so upset yesterday he rang the macmillan number on the tv to see if anyone could help him.
It's heartbreaking watching him so frail not sure what Tuesday will hold.
Thoughts and prayers to everyone going thru this horrible disease x
Ahh, bless his heart. It is such a cruel disease. I went through it with my Mum for 2 years. The rollercoaster of emotions was hard to bear. Elation at every appointment when you got good news, and terror building up to the next appointment or scan or treatment. There is just no peace, either for the person with cancer or their family.
I hope the Tuesday appointment goes well. Try and stay strong for him, give him lots of love and hugs and support - that's all that family/carers can do really, but it is so important. My Mum would regularly say she didn't know what she would do without me, so it shows that the support is needed and appreciated.
I wish you both lots of luck xxx
Hi Lowe
Thank you so much for your message.
Dad had a rough weekend he ended up in A&E with chest pains. They kept him all day and let him home that night and told him he needed a blood transfusion in the next week's.
Back at hospital in Tuesday he has only put on a half kilo .The pet scan showed a small shadow in his lung so they think it's spread but thats not a priority at the minute as that would mean another biopsy.
The admitted that day as he needed an urgent blood transfusion and they have booked him in for a stent next Tuesday.
So fingers crossed he will get a bit of quality of life. They have also arranged the macmillan palliative care team to come out to the house to talk about the nightmares, tiredness .
Thanks again for listening xx
Hi Kaz
Thank you for sharing this update, it does seem like things have been extremely difficult during the past week, and I am really sorry to hear this
I hope that the insertion of a stent will make things a little easier for Dad, ad that the Macmillan nurses are able to offer the support and some ideas to help in all the ways that they do.
How is Dad now after the blood transfusion? I do hope there have been no further chest pains.
Here to listen, anytime... Thinking of you
Lowe'
Hi Lowe
Dad got out of hospital Wednesday evening he's very quiet and hardly said a word.
He has been in agony with his back since last night not sure if it's related to the cancer.
Took him this morning to get his covid test for The stent on Tuesday.
He just keeps saying he's done and no energy and he's afraid to go to sleep
