Hi I am new to the site having been diagnosed in January with adenocarcinoma T3N2M0 and am about to start my second session of pre op FLOT next week my question relates to the tumour itself I convinced I can sometimes feel it for lack of a better word nipping at me twitching it’s a little painful I am guessing it’s because it’s ulcerated has anyone else had a similar experience?

  • Hi ,

I initially went to my GP (Feb 2018) because I had chest pains which were keeping me awake at night. I was originally (mis)diagnosed as having had a heart attack. 2 weeks later I had a follow up appointment with my GP who asked why he could not see my scan? I told him that the hospital had forgotten to give me a scan despite telling me I needed one. So my GP sent me to a better hospital for an endoscopy who found my tumour. I do remember that my pre-op cycle of FLOT (4 doses 2 weeks apart) did cause me pain at the site of my tumour which was sharp, knife like and intermittent during days 1-3 after treatment, but I had so many side effects from the chemo that the pain from my tumour site barely registered over the pain of my many other side effects.

But the bottom line is I've been in remission for over 2 years! So ride through the pain, and take all the pain management medicine you're given and try to get to your pain before it gets to you.

  • Thanks anon613 it’s great to hear your in remission and there is hope for a future, I haven’t had many side effects to speak of with the exception of bone pain due to the infections to promote white blood cells I was hoping the pain  from the tumour was the chemo killing it or maybe that’s just wishful thinking thanks again
