Hi I'm Dave, I was diagnosed with Oesophagus cancer November 2020. Started chemotherapy New Years Eve and just started my 4th session 10th February yesterday. My next step will be the big operation to remove Oesophagus, rebuild stomach and save my life. This will be followed my 4 sessions of chemotherapy. I was told if I did nothing I would have about 12 to 18 months left. With treatment who knows 5, 10 maybe 20+ years. It's a no brainer. I think most people know somebody who has had cancer and maybe lost people to cancer. The only thing I want to say is remain positive and enjoy life to the full. Embrace your treatment and remember some people dont get a chance look at last year and this with covid. Just keep smiling in the face of adversity and good luck to everybody. Dave.
Hello,
I just want to say how inspired I am by your post and your positive outlook on life. Can I say how proud I am of how you are dealing with your diagnosis. You demonstrate nothing but strength and determination and you are a positive role model for others in your situation. You give a true message to others to remain happy and to look forward. Having lost family members to cancer and currently having a very dear big brother who is currently undergoing chemotherapy and who has pending surgery, your words resonated with me. You are so right, it is so important to make every day count as life is already too short. Thank you for sharing your post, I think it will make people reflect and also give comfort. Stay positive,
Sending lots of love to you and your family

That’s the right attitude, Dave!
I just hoped to be at my son’s wedding five months after the surgery. Now, seven years later, that’s 2,557 days, I have been grateful for so much each day. I’ve Seen so much of the world for the first time. Held three new granddaughters. There has been so much to live for and so much living done. And so much more living to do.
I wish you the same success as I have enjoyed.
Counting the days, making every day count.
Brent
Hi Dave, good post! Am interested in the significance of the number "66" in your name? If it's your year of birth then you are the same age as me 54/55; your treatment plan sounds very similar to what I had which was some five years ago (diagnosed with cancer of oesophagus at age 49) - chemo/op/chemo. Stay positive mate and I wish you well with the treatment!
Best wishes for your dad and just cherish every day. Be there for him. Look after yourself too. Everybody needs love and support. Good luck.
