Don't know if anyone can help, my husband has recently been diagnosed with incurable esophagus cancer with bone mets T7 and C4, hopefully starting chemo Tuesday and are now talking about starting herseptin due to her2, how well does this combination work
Thanks
Hi Sal1
I'm unsure if it is the case with Oesophageal cancer but my wife was diagnosed with HER2+ positive breast cancer and she had to have chemo to be given the Herceptin as NICE didn't fund Herceptin to be used on it's own as the prognosis results were much higher with the combination.
Herceptin is a biological therapy that targets HER2 and for J it worked very well and compared to chemo the herceptin side effects were minimal.
If you can reply mentioning which chemotherapy drugs he will be having with the Herceptin other more experienced members here can give you better information.
Chances are he will also be given some bone strengthening meds at some time.
Hope this is of some help for now, fingers crossed for maximum impact in getting on top of this.
Take care, G n' J
Thank you for your reply, got assement tomorrow, then hopefully starting chemo on Tuesday, unfortunately I can't attend anything at the moment due to covid 19, we have by video appointment been told incurable so all treatments are palliative, I'll repost when I know more about chemo drugs
Thanks you
