I hope everyone is keeping safe and staying as well as possible.
i received my histology results (post surgery) in the post this morning and wondered if anyone was had some understanding of what they actually mean? I’ve tried google but it’s a bit confusing.
Thank you.
Emma
Hi
I think that it's very hard for lay people to understand histology reports. The best people to translate them for you would be either your consultant or CNS. Why don't you give your CNS a call tomorrow and hopefully she'll be able to go through them with you.
Wishing you all the best

Hi Emma, I was told the histology report when I went for my first check up 6 months post surgery. To be honest I wasn't that interested, I had decided not to get caught up with statistics and just get on with my recovery. The consultant did mention that 5 out of 9 lymph nodes removed tested positive. And he mentioned something about having a 20-25% chance of survival up to 5 years. I said " oh so there's a 75-80% chance that I won't". He was taken aback by my comments and I told him not to worry as I laughed and said that I grew up hearing the average family size was 2.4 children and I had never seen point 4 of a child. Good luck and kind regards Frank.
