Thank you all for such kind words when i felt at my lowest. Your be pleased to know i have picked myself up and feeling stronger. So after some great advice from here i phoned the Mcmillan nurse the following day.
To be clear my hubby has tumour third of the way down the oscophegus and has been staged as a T3 and bulky?? PET scan showed a lymph node in stomach was enlarged and on first visit to oncologist he said cancer was also in that lymph node and a Laproscopy would need to be done. However since that and with no biopsies taken it apparently has not been mentioned in MDA meeting. The Mcmillan nurse was not very forthcoming when i enquired about staging and just said T3, 4 cycles of chemo will be needed to shrink tumour. My confusion now is we had a letter from GP saying staging was T3 S2? Can anyone explain what this means please.
Hi Debbie, the staging I know of is T3 which means that the tumour has grown into the outer layer of the oesophagus. I'm not sure what S2 is, maybe worth checking with the GP to make sure it's not a typing error. I'm saying this because I was diagnosed with T3 N2 M0 staging, the N2 part means that it's present in 2-6 local lymph nodes and M0 it had not spread to anywhere else. Kind regards Frank.
