My Mom has just started her first ECX cycle, went in last Friday and so far she is coping extremely well.  I know it's early days but she is incredibly positive about the treatment after waiting for what seems like an eternity to start!!

Having read a few messages recently I wondered how long people waited between chemo finishing and the operation?  I thought it would be around 4/5 weeks but I am getting the impressions it's less than this?

Thank you

    Hi Alice

yes that was about right in my case, third round of ECX chemo finished mid May 2016 with Op on 1st July; hair started to fall out on 1st April which was the first day of second cycle and also the day of my eldest daughter’s 18th birthday party! Memories are made of this....

wishing your mum all strength going forward x

  • Hi Alice

i started my last (3week) cycle of ECX on Christmas Eve and had my surgery on February 11th. So my surgery was 4 weeks after the end of the three weeks of chemo.

I hope your mom continues to do well during her chemo. I had to take a weeks rest between cycles 1 and 2 to get my white cell count up but no rest between cycles 2 and 3 - I just had daily injections to stimulate the white cell production at the start of cycle 3.

i had relatively few side effects, hair loss fatigue , some nausea, a bit of numbness in my foot, but nothing that would have kept me off work if I hadn’t been retired! I hope your mom does as well as I did. I am 2,036 days cancer free.

Counting the days, making every day count.
