Group experience please in respect of surveillance.
Have been advised that following post surgery FLOT chemo and irrespective of whether all 4 cycles are completed there is no standard for timely scan surveillance.
It was explained that any contact would be a phone call every 3 months from CNS.
Apart from that asked to report when symptoms/problems occur. Presuming this would be pain (local or distant /problems swallowing.
Would appreciate others experience in NHS
Seems he coped very well, until it came to dishing out meds last night at home, so before being discharged i , had to have iron transfusion, they forgot to take bloods in the morning, so had to try and find a vein at lunch, then just as getting to 3.30pm another lot of apologies, need to find somehow a vein for the cannula on the left hand. For the iron transfusion. So was quite late and I was so sore, I wish I'd stayed at least another night. When we finally got back Went out like a light on the sofa, when I was woken up, kitchen was full of medication boxes, no syringes, or no idea what I needed to take unfortunately hubs had no idea of foods to try and get in or discuss it with me. He had taken all the info home a few days since. So was a really tearful, emotional homecoming this morning was the same, shambles so it seems need to get everything lined up to take myself. Shattered, and to top it all had first dumping. Omg, deffo need to be more careful, it was only couple of after 8, but won't do that again.
Thank you for all the food advice, just sussing out acceptable foods. Will start to puree some of my own food. Christ I'm shattered. Love to you all x
Bearing in mind your particular circumstances I find it unfathomable that they've even considered sending you home at this stage in your recovery. I was an extremely fit 60 yr old male with a great support network around me and I wouldn't have even thought about leaving the hospital until at least day 10. Wishing you luck on your journey
Anthony
Thank you Anthony, thought it was me being bit over emotional, going to try and not do too much tomorrow, just gone up to bed, and thank you for your helpful advice, as with all the rest, really means a lot
